P and D Final

Evaluation:
Preparatory Work:
The theme was portrait distortion, and i had to experiment with all the different ways to do this. We researched a few artists, and i got a few ideas from their work.
We look at Erin Case, and looked at the way she put landscapes into the face. i liked her work, but when i did it, it didn't look that good. This helped me become more confident cutting things out on photoshop.
Through this project, i have become more confident using photoshop, and I'm more confident cutting things out.
I think that i have done well with the fragmentation pieces, because I liked the way you had to build up all the different layers. And i think that it looks good like that in my final piece.
I think that i could improve on my blending, because i think it looks ok, but it could be better.
I want to do a few more erin case portraits, because when i did one, i didn't do one well. And i would have liked to become more confident doing these. Also, i would have liked to do another hidden thoughts portrait, because i really enjoyed that, and i would like to play around with that more.

Final Piece:
I have used lots of colour blended into the face of each individual piece, then put them all together.
I am very happy with my final piece, because it has quite a lot of colour in it, but not too much, and i like the way i have blended all of the faces together, because you have to look really carefully to see some of the faces.
If i could change anything, i would have moved some of the pictures around a little more, because on the left, they are all really close together, and on the right, they are just around the edges. Also, i would have taken photos of someone in normal clothes, not school uniform.

Fragmentation 2

For this, i took a photo, and cut out different sections and moved them around. And on some of them, i changed the colours, and played around with the blend modes.

Fragmentation

I like this one, because it is strange, and from a distance, it looks like a normal face, but when you look closely at it, it looks odd, and different.

I like this one, because it is all different, and muddled up. I also like it, because the whole of the photo is muddled up.

I enjoyed doing this one, because i like the way that it look like the fragments are blowing away. I don't like the way they are shaped, so if i did it again, i would maybe spread it out a bit more.

Hidden Thoughts

For this, i had to take a picture of myself, and chop off part of my head, so i could add in my inner thoughts. So i added the things that i was thinking of, like where i want to go, my dog and christmas.

Blommers-Schumm inspired portrait

For this, i had to turn the portrait upside down, but make the eyes and mouth the right way around.
But when i did the mouth, she is smiling, so it made it harder for me to make it blend in.

This is what it looks like turned round.

What went well:
I blended the eyes well, and made it look normal.

Next time target:
When i did the mouth, she was smiling, so it was harder to make it look realistic, so i will get a photo of someone with a blank expression.

Erin Case inspired portrait

What went well?:
I think that i refined the edge well, because it is smooth, and doesn't look like it was edited too much. i also think that i cut out the face well.

Next time target:
Next time, i will take  a picture with a different background, because i don't like this background. also, i would have used a different photo, because i think that its just a bit plain.

Portrait Homework

Artist Research: Erin Case

In most of her pieces, Erin Case has put different landscapes into a portrait, and keeps their hair, and i think that this makes it look strange, and makes it stand out.
Her work makes me feel confused, because they have the full shape of their body, but it is covered with a landscape, and i think that it looks odd.
I think it looks good, but a little bit odd, and i like the way that she uses the same sorts of colour in the landscape and the background.
In my work, i will try to do this sort of thing, to try and make my work this good.

Final Landscape Stitch and Evaluation

For this, i had to stitch together lots of different photos of a landscape, and change the filters, and play around with the blend modes. Then, i had to place in my full body stitch into it a few times, and try to blend them in.

I think that i put it all together well, because its looks unusual and strange, and blends together quite well. But if i did it again, i would probably have used a different landscape, or got more photos, because i think it would look better if it was bigger, and has more of the landscape in it.I also like the way i blended the full body stitches into it.

Evaluation:
Preparatory work:
The theme was identity, and i did the landscape of a place at school, and this shows my identity,by showing  what school i got to.
I researched the artist David Hockney, and his work made me want to make my work a little like his, because i thought that it looked strange and unusual.
Throughout this project, i think that i have improved my skills on photoshop, by using different filters and blend modes to make my work look better.
I think that i have blended my full body stitches in well, because they aren't very noticeable, and i think they look good where they are.
I think that i could improve by trying to add a few more different shapes, to make it a little more interesting.
I think i could have played around with the colours a bit more, to make it look a little bit more unusual.
Final Piece:
In my work, i have used lots of circles, to make it look strange and different.
I tried to make my work look strange, by moving the different shapes and changing the colours and shapes. I think that i have done this quite well, but i could have changed the colours a bit better.
This project was about identity, so i wanted to show a little bit of my identity, and i did that by showing my school.
I am happy with my final piece, and have really enjoyed putting it all together, and making it look good.
I particularly like the way that the different filters make it look good, and different, and i like the way all of the stitch portraits are blended into it.
If i did this again, i would have done a different landscape, because i could have used somewhere i like to go, and i might have been able to do it a bit better. I would do this, because i want to try and make show my identity a bit more.
Targets:
1) I need to try and use more different colours, to make it look more interesting
2) Try to use the blend modes a little bit more.
3) try to make my work a little more interesting and unusual.

Artist Research

David Hockney makes his photos look like one big photo but when you look closely you can see that it is stitched together. I like his work, because its different and unusual and you really have to look closely to see where it is stitched together.

In my work i want it to be a bit like his work, but i want to make it look a little less realistic i will also use lots of different filters to make it look more unusual.

14 Selfies Homework

I had to take 14 selfies over a course of 14 days.

Here are my 14 selfies.

Full body stitch

I then had to take a photo of my full body and 5 different close ups and then i stitched it all together.

This is  my full body stitch.

Stitch portrait

I had to take 15 different pictures of my face. then stitch it all together using different layers.

This is my stitch portrait.

Identity Project

In this project we will be exploring the concept of identity and how we can represent this photographically.

To start with we created a montage to show our own identity.
